About this blog: I have been sexually assaulted and I will not be silenced
In this blog I will be sharing MY story. This blog can be very triggering so please use care when entering and reading. I will be telling of my experiences and the fallout that came after. I hope that this blog can serve to help even just one person out there to tell their story. Let’s stop the silence and take back our lives. Let us all be victims no more.
I do want to add a disclaimer. I am not a doctor. I am not a healthcare professional of any kind. I am someone who has been there. I cannot offer psychiatric help but I can lend an ear and I can be your friend.
If you have been sexually assaulted please please please get help. There are many organizations out there to help. Contact www.pandys.org or www.rainn.org for assistance. Or contact a local resource for help. If you do not have a local resource, start one. Know that just because there is not something available in your community does not mean that it has not ever happened to anyone else in your community.
I will not preach to you about reporting to the police. It would be wonderful if the world was such that we could be guaranteed justice when we do report these crimes. In a perfect world every rape would be reported and every rape would be prosecuted. Unfortunately the sexual history and criminal history of the attacker is not permissible in court, but our’s is.
If you can, please do report it to the police. If you cannot, please know that it is a personal choice that only you can make and that you did what you had to do for you to move on and survive. You will not find blame here. Acceptance and love.
